PRINCESS ROAD
LONDON NW1 EXTENSION

Set within the Primrose Hill Conservation Area, Princess Road was planned around the early 19th century rail link from Chalk Farm to Euston and envisaged to have large, grand villas housing the affluent, working middle to upper classes. However due to change of ownership and popularity of the nearby railway the area was developed in the 19th century to a much higher density. In adding a new full width extension with glass roof terrace and rear garden to the grade II listed property the new extension acts as a light catcher brining as much light as possible into the heart of the main house. Use of structural glass walls and roof is a distinguishing feature of this simple design, modest in scale yet unlocks the house plan offering new avenues and streets with which to navigate playfully.
